Oscar made her special day when we threw her a little party over the weekend. Not only did he show up in his tuxedo tee, but offered her a great big birthday squeeze! Mama made the dress off a vintage pattern I've been saving. She looked adorable and sang every word to her own Happy Birthday song.

It's My 2nd Birthday!
Adeline woke up this morning to her first birthday surprise. She was given a shiny new red trike from some friends of ours. We found a cool "chick" helmet to match. Although her feet can't really pedal the pedals yet, she had just as much fun ringing the bell & playing with the streamers. That night after eating her favorite tofu burrito dinner, we all shared some mini cupcakes. Adeline belted out her own Happy Birthday song in perfect pitch. No, I wasn't trying to burn her ear off, but she was blowing out of the corner of her mouth, preventing her from blowing out the last candle.
Patrick took Adeline to a pet store in the mall to pet puppies and rabbits. They topped it all off with a nibble from Cinnabon. Now THAT'S a birthday!

Trolley Rides & Tropical Adventures
Adeline is absolutely obsessed with trolleys. This term also includes streetcars & sometimes buses. They're all "trolleys" to her. We decided to take her on a classic streetcar on Sunday afternoon. She was scared to death of the sound of the trolley coming down the tracks. Once inside, she was so attentive and curious. She wanted to sit all by herself and watched out the front window. She couldn't wait for the return ride home.
Our destination was the family-friendly eatery Rainforest Cafe at Pier 39. We figured if she pitched a fit we'd claim we were visiting from Idaho. Once seated, we prayed she wouldn't happen to notice the 12-ft. robotic snake hanging just feet above her head. She was preoccupied with the 3-ft. butterflies and corner waterfall. "What the...?!?" Oops, she finally noticed the snake slithering above her head and was petrified. Minutes later she made friends with the reptile and was soon offering the snake bites of her chicken nuggets. The thunderstorm that runs every 30 minutes was yet another frightening experience. She clapped as hard as she could when the final light flickered and yelled "ALL DONE"! Time to head back on that trolley....
Singing in the Rain
I'm Potty-Trained!
Two weeks ago we never thought Adeline would be doing all her "business" on a toilet so quickly. Not only does she let us know when she has to go, but gladly cleans up after herself. A few jelly beans was all it took. Now if we could only get her to do #2...
